Five Indonesian Citizens Trapped at Oberoi
VIVAnews - Spokesperson of the Indonesian Department of Foreign Affairs Teuku Faizasyah confirmed that there are five Indonesian migrant workers trapped at Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai, India. The hotel has been occupied by the alleged-terrorist assaulters as of Thursday, Nov 27.
However, accorrding to Faizasyah, they were not being held hostage. "They are trapped, not being hostaged," Faizasyah told VIVAnews, Friday, Nov 28.
The five Indonesians are Balinese women. They work at the hotel's spa. "They are fine and can still be contacted via phone by our Consulate General in Mumbai," said Faizasyah. Up until today, their names have not been released.
According to Faizasyah, the Department of Foreign Affairs has paid a visit to the families of the five Indonesian citizens in Bali. The Department has clarified the situation and provided information on the measures that have been, and will be, carried out by the Indonesian Consulate General in Mumbai.
The attackers, allegedly from a group called "Deccan Mujahideen, yesterday, or late Wednesday night local time, stormed several spots in Mumbai. Their main targets were foreigners, especially from the Americans and British.
They were reportedly in posession of machine guns, inluding AK-47 and grenades. The terrorist attacks occurred in 10 places at the same time: Chhatrapati Shivaji railroad station, Taj Mahal Hotel, Oberoi Trident Hotel, domestic airport Santa Cruz, Cama and GT hospitals, Metro Adlabs multiplex, Mazgaon Dockyard, Cafe Leopold, Nariman House, and Jewish center Chabad House.
According to State officials, the terrorist attacks, that have died down but are still on going, in the past two days has claimed at least 119 lives and injured 288 others.
