VIVAnews - There is a possibility for state-owned enterprises' holdings will be exempt from taxes. The condition is that the holding must be established with price book value and is scheduled to go public within two years.
The Department of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) has been preparing the establishment of several holdings in the cement, plantation, fertilizer and mining sectors. However, such plan has been somewhat delayed due to tax assessment regulations.
"Discussion on holdings with the staff of the Directorate General of Taxes will be carried out this Thursday and Friday. I will discuss the mechanism one by one," said Secretary of the Department of State-Owned Enterprises Said Didu at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday morning, Dec 17.
According to Didu, the Director General of Taxes at the Department of Finance, Darmin Nasution, has warned about the completion of the tax issue. However, both parties have yet to decide the mechanism of holding establishment and tax assessment.
One alternative is that tax exemption may be granted if holding is formed by using price book value and is scheduled to be listed at the stock exchange within two years. Another alternative is that company's assets are collected to form a holding.
"I will coordinate with the Directorate General of Taxes first, because one tax value is different from another. For instance, PT Perkebunan Nusantara is not tax-assessed because its shares are owned by the state," said Didu.
