Holland to Assist Quake Victims in Yogyakarta

VIVAnews - Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Verhagen is visiting Indonesia. During his three-day visit, one of the Indonesian figures that he wished to see is Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X.

Director of Information and Media at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Djudjur H Hutagalung, told VIVAnews on Wednesday, Jan. 14, that Verhagen's visit was initiated by the signing of a comprehensive partnership agreement (CPA) between Indonesia and the Netherlands.

After meeting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Jusuf Kalla as well as Minister of Justice and Human Rights Andi Mattalatta in Jakarta, Verhagen will take off to Yogyakarta. Hamengku Buwono is planned to welcome Verhagen at Yogyakarta Palace on 15 January.

During the visit to Yogyakarta, Verhagen took a trip to world's wonder Borobudur and Prambanan temples. Verhagen, escorted by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda, granted aid for the victims of 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake.

Verhagen and Wirajuda will give 44 personal computers and books for 11 State Elementary Schools in Klaten and Bantul, Yogyakarta.
