Yudhoyono to Overcome Megawati, Winters

VIVAnews - An economic and political observer Jeffrey A Winters believed that Megawati Soekarnoputri is not an equal opponent for Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Megawati does not have capital and track record. The performance of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is tumbling.

"Probably, there will only be Yudhoyono for presidential candidate and one other figure. But it may not be Megawati," he said on Wednesday, April 22.

He claimed that the most decisive factor in a presidential election is money (large fund) instead of alliance or even coalition. Yudhoyono is deemed as having strong character as well as strong financial backup. Meanwhile, Golkar is one the rich parties. Yet, it is divided into groups.

PDIP does not have enough capital, which in turn complicates Megawati. In addition, the decreasing votes of PDIP have shocked Megawati and Taufik Kiemas. In 1999, PDIP reached 33 percent of votes; 2004 with 18 percent; and 2009 with 14 percent. The nation had once despised Megawati during her presidency.

"Will she be mentally prepared to be refuted once again?" he said.

Winters does not mention Yudhoyono's equal opponent for the presidential seat.
