VIVAnews - By early 2009, Algemene Rekenkamer (the Netherlands Court of Audit) will visit Indonesia to conduct a peer review of the Indonesian Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). The peer review will be aimed at implementing transparency and accountability, especially on BPK's quality and performance.

According to Anwar Nasution, Algemene Rekenkamer is expected to come by January and April 2009. The peer review is concerned with the State Finance Auditing Standard.

"Therefore, we will prepare ourselves and pay full attention to gain a satisfying result for everyone," Nasution said on Monday, Dec 22.

As an audit agency, an informal opinion was issued to BPK concerning its 2007 financial statements. It is expected that the agency will be given a similar opinion this year.

As an audit agency, BPK must be capable of becoming an outstanding auditor. In this case, BPK has prepared auditing documents, code of conduct and other related documents.

It is a significant audit, said Nasution, that concerns accurate decision making and smooth verification. BPK acknowledged that such obstacles as manual and partial investigations still exist.
