Private Electricity Sector Covers Only 14%

VIVAnews - Private electricity projects can up until now manage not more than 14 percent of around 143 projects. The number of realized projects of electricity purchase agreement is only 19, according to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, on Wednesday, April 29.  

The failure takes place because state electricity company PLN has yet to set electricity tariff which is in line with investors' calculation. If investors do not submit the price to PLN, private companies cannot sell their electricity to other companies.

In fact, if private electricity projects succeed, it will help supply electricity capacity for domestic use.
