Anti-graft Commission Head Detained

VIVAnews - Head of the Indonesian Corruption Commission (KPK) Antasari Azhar was named a suspect for involving in the murder case of Director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran, Nasrudin Zulkarnaen, and for the time is being detained in the Jakarta Police Department.

This afternoon, Azhar was interrogated at the Jakarta Police Department for more than five hours. He was questioned about his involvement with other suspects, who executed the victim nearby shopping mall Metropolis Town Square, Tangerang.

The investigators queried Azhar with around 20 questions. Most of the suspects admitted that they knew the anti-graft commission head.

As reported, Chief of the Jakarta Police Department Inspector General Wahyono, said during a press conference on Monday, May 4, that the murder took place on March 14, at 2.05 pm local time.

He further stated that the murderer shot the victim from a motorbike through a passenger side car window, and left the victim dying inside the car.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will shortly issue a letter to temporary dismiss Azhar from his office.

"After Yudhoyono returns from Bali and receives the report from the Chief of Indonesian Police, the letter must certainly be issued," said Presidential spokesperson Andi Mallarangeng, Monday, May 4. Yudhoyono will be in the capital by Tuesday, May 5.

"If the status is upgraded to defendant, the President will issue a permanent dismissal letter," he added.
