VIVAnews - An accomplice of terrorist fugitive Noordin. M Top, Parmin, is facing 13 years of imprisonment based on the prosecutor's charges. Parmin, who is fluent in and translates from Arabic to Indonesian, and vice versa, is suspected as playing a role in helping M. Top elude the authorities by providing him with a hideout.

"In April 2005, [Parmin] met Noordin M Top at a room that Bahruddin Soleh (member of Jemaah Islamiyah) rented in Palur, Solo [Central Java]," said prosecutor Firmansyah before Judge Maksum Masduki in Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

Parmin aka Yaser Abdul Ba'ar aka Aslam aka Sastro violated article 13(b) of Law No. 15/2003 on Acts of Terrorism. The book translator came across Norrdin M. Top in Kedungwuni, Pekalongan, Central Java.

In July 2005, Parmin shared a room with M. Top leased by Bahruddin in Medono, Pekalongan. "The defendant knew that Noordin M. Top was a fugitive, listed in police's most wanted list in relation to the bombings of Bali, JW Marriot Hotel and the Australian Embassy," said Firmansyah.

According to Firmansyah, the defendant had deliberately assisted and facilitated perpetrators of terrorist acts by harboring Noordin M Top. The defendant did not report the fugitive's whereabout to the police as well. "However, the defendant admitted his mistake," said Firmanyah.
