Hajj Officials in Jeddah Sacked

VIVAnews - Religious Affairs Minister Maftuh Basyuni sacked three Jeddah Hajj officials working at the Technical Staff Office of Hajj Affairs in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

"The minister have ordered the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Coordination to take any appropriate measure as recommended by the Inspectorate General of Religious Affairs Department," said Head of Religious Affairs Information Center and Public Relations at the Department of Religious Affairs, Masyhuri, as quoted in the religious affairs department's official website on Tuesday,  Fab 17.

The three officials were deemed guilty for violating procedures in the hajj lodgings issue during the last hajj season. The sanction has been in line with the investigation and recommendation of the Inspectorate General of Religious Affairs Department.

Inspectorate General of Religious Affairs Department reported that some technical officers of the Hajj affairs in Jeddah were involved in the arragement of Hajj lodgings issue. It caused some of the Hajj pilgrims staying in Mecca to lodge farther from the Great Mosque. 

Masyhuri went on to say that the minister apologized to all parties relating to the hajj affairs this year at an occasion in a working meeting with the Religious Affairs Commission in the House of Representatives (DPR) on Monday, Feb 16.

When contacted by VIVAnews, Masyhuri was yet to reveal the names of the fired officials. "We're still discussing the matter with the minister," said Masyhuri.
