Auditor Detained for Alleged Corruption

VIVAnews - After going through eight hours of questioning, an auditor of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), Bagindo Quirino, was placed into custody. The suspect of corruption allegedly committed in the Department of Manpower and Transmigration is now behind bars at Cipinang Prison.

Quirino stepped out of the interrogation room of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office at around 5.25 pm on Thursday, 19 February, without making any statements to reporters.

KPK named Quirino a suspect in an alleged corruption case on 13 February. He is believed to have received Rp 650 million (US$54,188).

According to the anti-corruption commission Quirino has violated the regulation and was charged with Article 12(a) and (e), and Article 11 of Law on Corruption Eradication.

The case began when it was discovered that the procurement process in 10 vocational training centers was not in line with the regulation and decree of Minister of Manpower and Transmigration. The applied modus operandi was to request all procurement committees to sign the false contracts so that the budget could be disbursed. 

The commission has named six suspects from the Department of Manpower and Transmigration as well as its partner. The suspects included former Secretary of Directorate General of Manpower Management and Domestic Placement at the Department of Manpower and Transmigration, Bachrun Effendi, as well as five project partners: Director of PT Mulindo Agung Trikarsa, Mulyono Subroto, a businessman named Erry Fuad, Director of PT Gita Vidya Hutama, Ines Wulanari Setyawati, Director of PT Suryantara Purna Wibawa, Vaylana Dharmawan, and Director of PT Panton Pauh Putra Karnawi.

Maenwhile, Head of Subdirectorate of System Development and Innovation of the Productivity Directorate of the Department of Manpower and Transmigration, Taswin Zein, had been sentenced to four years of imprisonment.
