"On behalf of the Parliaments and the people of the 40 member parliaments of APA in Asia, the President of the APA calls on Israel to immediately cease all of its military actions in Gaza and allow access of humanitarian aid to Gaza to help innocent civilians," said Laksono, who is also Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), in a press release received by VIVAnews, Tuesday, Dec. 30.

The President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) is very concerned about the occurrence of large-scale bombing and the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 300 and injured more than 1,000 Palestinians. The bombings have resulted in severe destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza and some areas in the region that has been left without water and electricity.

"APA’s President calls on the international community to use every means  possible to pressure and stop such acts of violence and  support a cease fire in the Gaza Strip. The differing opinions of disputing parties in Gaza must be resolved with dialogue and other peaceful means, " said Laksono to conclude his statement dated Dec. 29.
