Finance Minister Urged to Cut Fuel Price

VIVAnews - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani is not yet able to assure the decrease in fuel prices although the House of Representatives (DPR) Inquiry Committee on Fuel has put pressures on Mulyani.

"Concerning fuel prices, average price per month will be evaluated," said Sri Mulyani on Thursday, Feb 26.

The government refers to Indonesia's average crude oil price per month in setting domestic fuel prices.

DPR Inquiry Committee on Fuel has Wednesday, Feb 25, urged the government to cut premium fuel prices. The reason for this is that the government still saves subsidy surplus amounting to Rp 3.3 trillion (US$275.9 million) by December and January 2009.

According to Head of Inquiry Committee, Zulkifli Hasan, the current premium fuel prices of Rp 4,500 per liter is still deemed high so that it should be cut to Rp 3,900 per liter.
