Indonesia Proposing to Host Youth Olympic

VIVAnews - The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) has intended to host the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014.

The archipelago will compete with five other countries including China, Mexico, Morocco, Poland and Turkey.
 
The website of International Olympic Committee (IOC) mentioned the cities that are into the candidacy to host the Olympic games include Jakarta (Indonesia), Nanjing (China) and Poznan (Poland). IOC has set 1 April 2009 as the deadline for submitting the registration proposal. The bidding will be held during a IOC meeting in Vancouver, Canada, by February 2010.
 
KONI Secretary General, Arie Ariotedjo, said that the proposal will be handed over to IOC on April 1.
 
"Initially, IOC circulated letters to every National Olympic Committee (NOC) on the proposal to host [the Olympic]. Then we replied [the letter]. We will only submit the proposal on the set date," said Ariotedjo. 
 
The plan has been discussed with State Minister for Youth and Sport and Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare. In fact, the government will form a special team to join the bidding. "We are also planning to meet with the President concerning the matter," he said.
 
Indonesia will start campaigning for hosting the youth Olympic in a IOC Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark, by the coming September.
