VIVAnews - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) visits the office of Special Crimes Solicitor General at the Attorney General's Office (AGO). They planned to ask about state's money that has been secured by AGO.
"We will confirm with the AGO about the money that they have secured," member of Working Commission at the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) Emerson Yuntho told VIVAnews on Friday, Dec 12.
When asked for confirmation yesterday, Special Crimes Solicitor General, Marwan Effendy said, "Tomorrow (Friday) morning, I will show all data that Attorney General's Office have," he told VIVAnews.
During the commemoration of World's Anticorruption Day on Dec 9, Attorney General Hendarman Supandji revealed that AGO had saved Rp 8 trillion and US$18 million from various corruption cases handled in the past four years.
The data was compared to data of money secured by the AGO during the last four years amounting to Rp 476.4 billion, while the Police secured Rp 859.7 billion.
Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) denied the data. According to KPK spokesperson Johan Budi SP, the Commission disbursed Rp 650 billion to state treasury in 2008.
However, ICW doubted the validity of AGO's claim concerning state money that has been saved. ICW viewed that AGO had only returned Rp 382.67 billion. In addition, the remaining money that AGO claimed to have secured had not been paid in to state treasury. ICW also recorded that the indicated state losses from the corruption cases handled by AGO during 2004-2008 amounting to Rp 13.16 trillion.
