APA to Bring Israel to International Court

VIVAnews - Asian Parliamentary Assembly will file a case against Israel at an International Court for its aggression against Palestine. The assembly also threatens to cut off all ties with the Israeli parliamentary if it continues its annexation.

Asian Parliamentary Assembly chairman, Agung Laksono, said on Monday, Jan 12, that the two consensus resulted from a recent visit to the Gaza Strip by APA members, Iran and Syria. Laksono, however, did not specify whether he meant International Court of Justice (ICJ) or International Criminal Court (ICC).

Laksono, after meeting Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otari in the Parliamentary complex on Monday, said that Otari agreed with the steps that Indonesia has taken in showing its solidarity through demonstrations and relief aid distribution to Gaza.

Otari also supported the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR)'s decision to create peace in the conflict areas through Asian Parliamentary Assembly and parliamentaries of Organization of Islamic Conference's member countries.

Otari said he hoped that Indonesia's role in the Israel-Palestine conflict will encourage the issuance of new resolutions urging the withdrawal of Israeli troops as well as annul the blockade and embargo imposed to Palestine.
