VIVAnews - Unidentified individual(s) threw Molotov cocktails at the Egyptian Embassy, Jalan Teuku Umar No.68, Menteng, Central Jakarta, around 5.30 pm local time on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Head of Public Relations Division at the Jakarta Police Department Chief Commissioner Zulkarnaen confirmed the incident.
According to Zulkarnaen, three Molotov cocktails crashed into the front side of the embassy. Two of the bombs exploded and burnt the walls while the other one failed to explode.
No victims were claimed during the incident. But the building was damaged - the walls were burnt.
Central Jakarta Police Department has taken the unexploded Molotov cocktail into evidence and is trying to find finger prints.
Police has interrogated three witnesses including a guard in the Egyptian Embassy, a security officer in the residence of the United States Ambassador, and a sentry at the residence of British Ambassador situated next to the crime scene.
It is believed that the witness saw and can identify the perpetrator(s)
"Everything is still under investigation," Zulkarnaen told VIVAnews on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
The Indonesian Department of Foreign Affairs will continue to coordinate with the Egyptian government in the investigation. "The officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs on Middle East affairs will be kept updated through the Egyptian Embassy," Department of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah told VIVAnews on Wednesday, Jan 21.

So far, the Indonesian Ambassador in Egypt has yet receive to receive any response or special request relating the case.
The Department of Foreign Affairs also maintains communication with the diplomatic security division at Jakarta Police Department to intensify surveillance over the Egyptian Embassy.
