Investors Not to Worry of Policy Change

VIVAnews - A sharp increase in the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on the early transaction in this week tends to be affected by the expectation of having the same national leader's policy in the future.

"The market players see that the [same] government policy will continue," said the managing director of PT Reliance Securities Orias Petrus Moedak when interviewed by VIVAnews in Jakarta on Monday, April 13.

At the end of the first session this Monday, the index significantly boosted 66.14 point (4.51 percent) to 1,531.89. 127 stocks were increasing, 18 were weakening and 39 were stagnant. Stock volume was recorded of 3.63 billion units valuing Rp 2.62 trillion (US$231.18 million).

Moedak explained that the Democratic Party which excels in the legislative general election is predicted to give positive impact to the market. "The market players don't have to predict a possible direction of a new policy," he said.

Nevertheless, the market is also predicted to fluctuate during the presidential election in July.

The chairperson of Indonesian Securities Analysts Association (AAEI) Haryajid Ramelan also mentioned a similar thing. The legislative election result which is predicted won by the Democrat is going to make a conducive politic and economic situation.

"The government's direction will be clearer and will continue," he said. "Political escalation will also be safe."

Meanwhile, he also said that if the Functional Group Party's chairperson also collaborates with the Democrat, the government led by Susilo bambang Yudhoyono-Jusuf Kalla will survive.

Based on the General Elections Commission real count data at 12 p.m., the Democrat still led with 20.2 percent votes, followed by the Functional Party with 14.4 percent, and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) with 14.3 percent.
