Jakarta Administration to Launch e-Library

VIVAnews - The Agency of Education of Jakarta will officiate an e-Library at High School 12, East Jakarta. This is aimed at meeting the need for information.

"This will be the pioneering project in Indonesia. It is expected that every school can come and join so that online book exchange is possible," said Head of Jakarta Agency of Education, Taufik Yudi Mulyanto, on Tuesday, April 14.

The library can hopefully facilitate all students and teachers to get books and journals through the Internet. "Therefore, they can directly download the needed materials," he said.

Book collection in school libraries have been restricted to their own. The e-Library may enable the exchange of books and journals to other schools.

"Good bye conventional library," he said. The online partnership will be powered by state-owned teleco industry Telkom.

In addition, the e-Library will boost the spirit of the students to seek for books. "As we all know, the youth are fond of the Internet. It will be easier for them to find [reading materials]," he said.

The library possesses 15 computer units that can be accessed by the students from eight to twelve.
