VIVAnews – The Judicial Commission will hold a meeting regarding the acquittal of Muchdi Purwopranjono, accused of murdering human rights activist Munir Said Thalib.
“We will discuss the matter,” said member of the Commission, Soekotjo Soeparto, in a conversation with VIVAnews, Monday, Jan. 5.
The meeting is held to see if the panel of judges, which consisted of Suharto, Haswandi, dan Ahmad Yusak, had indeed performed their duties in accordance to the honor, dignity and behavior befitting of judges.
On 31 December 2008, the panel of judges of the South Jakarta District Court freed Muchdi of all charges. “The defendant has not been proven legally and convincingly to have committed the planning of the murder of Munir as per the prosecutor’s charges,” said Suharto.
