Syria Urges Solidarity of Arab Countries
VIVAnews - Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji Al Otari hopes that Arab and other Islamic countries unite in order to stop Israel's aggression in Gaza Strip. He said that Israel's invasion has killed Palestinian civilians.
"The killings committed in Gaza Strip are Israel's brutal acts which have claimed the lives of innocent women and children," said Otari after meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday, Jan 12, at the Presidential Palace.
During the meeting, Syria and Indonesia agreed to push for Israel to cease its aggression in Gaza Strip. As part of Arab countries, Syria wishes that there is peace in Palestine.
Otari went on to say that Syria always dreams of total peace so that Palestine can gain its territories which have been annexed by Israel. "Let [the Palestinians] build their own country peacefully on Jerusalem, its capital," said Otari.
Meanwhile, President Yudhoyono said that Indonesia will continue to urge Israel to cease fire and obey UN resolution No.1680.
However, if Israel ignored the resolution, Indonesia asserts the United Nations to immediately issue a new firmer resolution, or to hold an emergency meeting with UN members to discuss about the conflicts in Gaza Strip. "It will be aimed at solving the conflicts in Gaza," said Yudhoyono.
