Economic Growth Assumed at 4.7 Percent

VIVAnews - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the Indonesian economic growth will possibly reach 4.7 percent. The percentage may decrease due to the worsening global economy.

According to Sri Mulyani, during an account on the 2009 State Budget revision proposal to Finance Commission, the government detects that the growth in exports and imports has decreased. "The observation is based on data collected by the Department of Finance in the last three months using the indicator having fast detection," said Sri Mulyani.

She said exports and imports activities in Tanjung Priok Port have declined in frequency. The decrease does not only appear on the volume of trading but also prices. "The projection has missed the five percent exports. The percentage is deemed more optimistic," she said.

According to Finance Minister, it has been quite a sharp decrease compared to last year's exports and imports with nine to 10 percent. Given the situation, considering the stagnant investment and consumption, the economic growth is predicted at 4.7 percent.

"It is still in the government's range, which has been revised at between 4.5 and five percent," she said. The percentage will be the basic assumption in preparing the 2009 Revised State Budget.
