VIVAnews - The next Elections in Aceh will be special because, in additional to national parties that will fight for votes, six local parties will also participate.
However, Special Force of Aceh and Nias Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR), Mirza Keumala, said that the situation in Aceh prior to the Elections is still normal.
Keumala was also convinced that the Elections will not affect the efforts of re-developing the post-tsunami Aceh. "The [situation] is normal. [The coming Elections] do not affect the province," Keumala said on Thursday, Feb 5.
BRR Aceh and Nias was formed to formulate strategies and operational policies; prepare plans and budget; set up detail designs in line with the main plan; and carry out rehabilitation and reconstruction in Aceh and Nias. The agency will end its duties in December 2009.
Earlier, Chief of Indonesian Military (TNI) General Djoko Santoso said he will guarantee security of all Indonesian regions during the Elections including Aceh. TNI pledged that there will be no threats resulting in failures of the coming Elections.
