Holland to Discuss Matters on Law with RI

VIVAnews - Dutch Minister of Justice Hirsch Ballin will visit Indonesia from between 23 and 27 February 2009 to discuss the chance of improving a tighter bilateral partnership concerning matters on law.

A written statement from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Jakarta, Indonesia, stated on Tuesday, Feb 17, that Ballin will have a meeting with Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Rights Andi Mattalatta, and discuss the future opportunity to have a better collaboration in preparing regulations, promoting the regulations and defending Human Rights.

"Both ministers will also have a discussion on migration management, prison system, academic legal studies, intellectual property rights, public law administration, human resources development, management of library of law, law documentation and society's awareness on law," thus the statement.

In addition, Ballin and Mattalatta will set up a Bilateral Working Group for handling issues related to the violation of law based on multilateral framework (the United Nations).

The Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Rights as well as the Dutch Minister of Justice will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on law partnership by Monday, Feb 23.

Ballin will also visit the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, Corruption Eradication Commision (KPK), Attorney General's Office (AGO), and Indonesian Police Headquarters. Ballin will also inspect some projects such as law training facilities.

Ballin will visit Banda Aceh to share views on law issues with several local organizations by Thursday, Feb 26.
