VIVAnews - Upstream Oil and Gas Regulator (BP Migas) is worried that the targeted domestic oil lifting and gas production of 950,000 barrels per day cannot be achieved if the government does not lauch anticipatory measures.
"We are afraid that the production will be off target," said BP Migas Head R Priyono on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
He said BP Migas is attempting to meet the targeted oil lifting. One of the measures will be to open a new field projected to be capable of producing 283 barrels per day.
Optimal maintenance as well as enhanced oil recovery (EOR) infill drilling may add to the production by around 290 barrels per day. BP Migas also accelerated water flood pilot project applied in Pertamina E&P which has taken place in Kenali Asam and Bunyu fields in order to boost crude oil production.
The government will continue to apply the same method in Ngolobo, Talangan Jimar, Tanjung, and Rantau fields. The government will also drive contractors to increase their activities in abandoned fields, and motivate other contractors to evaluate the production enhancement of either old or abandoned wells.
