VIVAnews - Kerosene-to-gas conversion program in Bali is delayed. Out of nine regencies and municipalities in Bali, only four regions have implemented the program.
Of the targeted gas-cooker distribution of 780 thousand units, only 281 thousand is achieved, or equal to 36 percent of the target.
Pertamina Area V of Denpasar LPG Sales Representative, Fedy Alberto, said the gas-cooker is supplied gradually to the public. Alberto denied that the limited number of gas-cooker was due to a refusal from the people.
Alberto argued that the stock was limited because Pertamina of Bali was waiting for supply from Pertamina of Surabaya which controls distribution for East Java, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara.
"If the distributed package is not complete (gas-cooker, gas regulator, gas tube as well as 3-kg gas tank), it will not be distributed to people," said Alberto on Wednesday, Feb 25.
Pertamina of Bali-West Nusa Tenggara Sales Area Manager Jekson Simanjuntak said the package was only supplied in several areas such as Denpasar, Badung, Tabanan and Gianyar. However, those who should have received the package remain empty-handed.
Meanwhile, as for other areas like Bangli, Klungkung and Jembrana, it is still being verified. "The distribution has not yet reached Buleleng and Karangasem," said Simanjuntak.
The estimated number people having the right to receive the package in, for instance, Buleleng-Karangasem is up to 168,000; Bali-Klungkung, 90,000, and Jembrana, 72,000.
In addition to meeting supplies for the unreached areas, Pertamina of Bali should complete advanced distribution to cover shortage in several regions such as Denpasar (39,000) and Badung (3,300).
Simanjuntak estimates that everything will be completed by June.
