VIVAnews - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono hopes that the Asian economy would revive so that it may support the tumbling world economic growth.
"Asia must revive because Asian countries such as China, India and Japan have phenomenal natural resources," said Yudhoyono at the Asian Parliamentary Assembly at the House of Representatives (DPR) building, Thursday, Nov 27.
Yudhoyono hopes that Indonesia can be one of the countries whose economy can support the world economy. The challenge is, he said, to find a solution to the crisis where countries depend on each other.
"The Western countries are beginning to understand that this is everyone’s problem and must become everyone’s responsibility for the sake of international interest. Asia should find a practical solution to deal with this crisis. We must look forward,” said Yudhoyono.
According to the President, Asia should be brave in bringing forth innovations to solve the problem, such as not putting too tight of a restriction on imported products.
"However, the more important thing in handling this crisis, is that it should not create new problems. In the current developing world, Asia has a strong voice. Therefore, Asia must be able to offer a plan and play a role in the world economy," he said.
This global economic crisis, he said, has actually been predicted by many analysts. First, there is a fundamental continuity and climate change. Second, the forming of fragile economic bubbles. "The solution is simple. We must reform the international economic order to be more effective," he said
