VIVAnews – Since the day Barack Obama won the election and became the United States President-elect, there have been rumors about his coming to Indonesia.
Obama's victory was celebrated by many in Indonesia. His ties to the country, i.e. his having gone to elementary school in Jakarta and having had an Indonesian step father, have made Indonesians almost as thrilled by his victory as democrats in the United States, if not more.
One possible argument against Obama visiting Indonesia is "Precisely because Obama went to school in Jakarta until he was ten he is vulnerable to the charge that he is soft on Indonesia," wrote Dr. Peter McCawley in Australian National University's (ANU) Indonesia Project blog.
