Israel Must be Brought Before the ICC
VIVAnews – Chairperson of the Indonesian National Committee for Palestinian People, Soeripto, said that Israel must be brought before the International Criminal Court because it has committed human rights violations in its attacks on the Gaza Strip against the Palestinian people.
According to Soeripto, the Indonesian government must push for the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to hold an emergency hearing. “OIC and ASEAN must insist that Israel and parties that are responsible for the attacks be brought to the International Criminal Court,” said Soeripto, who is also Vice Chairperson of the House of Representative’s (DPR) Law Commission, Monday, Dec. 29.
Soeripto deems Israel’s attacks, that have killed more than 300 Palestinians, constitute the worst aggression in the past 41 years.
He said that several factions within the DPR have already stated their condemnation against the attacks on the Gaza Strip. “PKS (Prosperous Justice Party), represented by me. And also PAN (National Mandate Party) and PKB (National Awakening Party),” he said.
