VIVAnews - Even if Megawati pairs with either Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X or Prabowo Subianto, she would, logically speaking, still not win the Elections. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) will lose chance in the 2014 Elections if it forces its will to win the 2009 Elections, said Andrinof Chaniago, a lecturer at the Social and Political Science Faculty at the University of Indonesia. He suggested that Megawati Soekarnoputri checks out from the presidential race.
"Megawati will not win [the Elections] even if she pairs up with the Sultan or Prabowo," said Chaniago.
Current survey shows that Megawati and Yudhoyono are on the top of the list for the next presidential candidate. However, Megawati still cannot surpass Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
If Megawati insists on becoming a presidential candidate in the 2009 Elections, she would have to prepare to lose the presidential candidacy for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle three times in a row until 2014.
There will be no way out. Megawati must give way for other potential candidates that the party has for the 2014 Elections. "It could be Pramono Agung, ar anyone else available," said Chaniago.
PDIP is preparing five vice presidential candidates to pair with Megawati including Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Prabowo Subianto, Wiranto and Jusuf Kalla.
