VIVAnews - 18 small rivers flowing into Bengawan Solo river overflowed as a result of two-day heavy rain which poured down on Bojonegoro, East Java. It caused flooding in several areas and ruined homes as well as bridges.
The floods causing 14 subdistricts to be inundated by water has caused local inhabitants to stop doing their daily activities due to a broken bridge. The most affected area is situated at Tambahre Subdistrict. It was reported that four homes have collapsed from being hit by Wareng River overflow at Bakalan and Gamongan villages, Tambahrejo Subdistrict.
Surati, a victim of the flooding, said water from uphill swept away her goods and destroyed her home.
"I don't know where to go. I will be here (her neighbor's home) for a while," Surati told TV station Antv on Tuesday, Feb 24.
In addition to destroying four homes, the flood damaged hundreds of people's homes. In fact, it was reported that around 1,100 homes located in the highlands were inundated by a one-meter deep swift current.
