Malaysia to Facilitate Indonesian Voters

VIVAnews - The Malaysian government will give Indonesian migrant workers a day-off for participating in the upcoming April 9 General Election.

The Malaysian government will also provide voting spots in several cities in the country.

Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda said Indonesia will coordinate with other countries where many Indonesian citizens are living to give them a chance to vote.

"The Malaysian government has also provided [voting spots] not only in Indonesia's representative offices, but also in several places in Kuala Lumpur," said Wirajuda in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday, March 18.

He added that the preparations for the general elections abroad have been going well because the number of overseas voters is not as many as those of domestic voters. Countries with large number of Indonesian migrants include, among others, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Middle East.

The problem is that in other countries, the same freedom may not be given such as one in Malaysia and Singapore. Second, workers staying at home during the Elections may be restricted to vote.
