VIVAnews - As far as social welfare is concerned, the supporters of Megawati Soekarno Putri are mostly disadvantaged people compared to those backing Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Prabowo Subianto.
"The supporters of Megawati are the most disadvantaged," said Kholid Novianto, a researcher of Jakarta-based Reform Institute.
The economic rate of the presidential candidates' supporters is measured through their monthly average meat and milk consumption as well as average expenditure on clothes per year.
The research showed that the majority of Megawati's supporters only consumes meat on a religious holiday or a feast. There are only a small number of her supporters that can provide meat as daily food.
On the contrary, the majority of Yudhoyono and Subianto's supporters are more capable of making meat available as daily meals.
Reform Institute also studied the link between people's milk consumption and a tendency to vote for a presidential candidate. The result showed that Megawati's supporters never take milk on daily basis, compared to those supporting Yudhoyono and Subianto.
Megawati's supporters are also viewed as rarely buy clothes compared to Yudhoyono and Subianto's.
