Total Launches More Fuel Station in Indonesia

VIVAnews - France-based oil company, Total Oil, continues its expansion in fuel station in Indonesia. The company has officiated its second fuel station in the archipelago.

Total which is represented by PT Total Oil Indonesia is the third foreign company following Shell and Petronas that develops downstream oil industry in Indonesia. Shell is even known for its aggressiveness in opening fuel stations in Indonesia.

"We are ready to bring forth innovations as a response to the needs for energy," said Total Oil Indonesia Brand and Communications RetailĀ  Rulianti Syahrul in a written statement received by VIVAnews on Monday, March 23.

Total will now have two fuel stations which are located in Jakarta, located at Jalan MT Haryono (South Jakarta) and Jalan Daan Mogot (West Jakarta).

In response to Total's plan, Pertamina stated that it is prepared to cope with Total. "We are ready to compete with Total," Vice President Communications of PT Pertamina, Anang Rizkani Noor told VIVAnews in Jakarta, on Monday, March 23. "In fact, the preparation was made in 2005," he went on to say.

Noor stressed that people have been familiar with Pertamina concerning non-subsidized fuel sales. The indication for this is that Pertamina has controlled market share up to 70 percent for the high-octaned fuel.
