Indonesia Tightens Relationship with China
VIVAnews - The government is going to reinforce the strategic cooperation with China. The effort is shown, among others, in the financing of the 10,000 MW electricity project and the Merpati's transaction. The government does not want problems related to these two issues affect the inter-governmental relation.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that the efforts for the reinforcement have been discussed in her visit to China on last weekend. She said that it is believed the strategic cooperation will solve various problems existing in the projects involving Indonesia and China.
"The 10,000 MW project is one [of the projects]. China contributes 90 percent of the capital because the capital goods were taken from there," she said in Jakarta on Monday, 23 March.
Since the majority of the contractors came from China, strategic cooperation reinforcement has become a solution. "We're hoping that the 10,000 MW electricity project will not face any problem," she added.
The second problem is concerned with the deal in Merpati aircraft purchase, which has also been solved, said Mulyani.
The strategic cooperation is established to reinforce the partnership between Indonesia and China to deal with the serious global economic slowdown. "Indonesia and China have positive growth. [Both countries] are trying to improve the relations," she said.
