Trade Attache of Indonesian Embassy in the US reported on Monday, March 30, that in the last three years, US imported textiles from Indonesia increased by 9.47 percent compared to 2006 with US3.8 billion.
The report also showed that Indonesia was ranked five concerning textile exports in the US market in 2008. Given the ranking, Indonesia enjoyed 4.59 percent of market share of total textile imports.
Nine other largest exporters include China (34 percent), India (17 percent), Mexico (six percent), Vietnam (six percent), Pakistan (three percent), Honduras (three percent), Cambodia (three percent), Thailand (two percent) El Salvador (two percent) and Guatemala (one percent).
Overall US imports from Indonesia in 2008 reached US$15.79 billion, which was an increase by 10.47 percent compared to 2007 with US$14.30 billion. The value of imports in 2008 was the highest between 2004 and 2008. In the last five years, the United States' imports reached 9.78 percent.
In 2008, the highest position in both countries' trading was recorded in 2004-2008 period with US$21.71 billion, an increase by 17.13 percent compared to 2007 with US$19.54 billion.
