VIVAnews - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and the Capital Market Supervisory Agency and Financial Institution (Bapepam-LK) appointed the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI) as the independent appraiser for PT Bumi Resources Tbk. (BUMI).
"Finally, we agreed that MAPPI will do the job," said the managing director of IDX Erry Firmansyah at the Bapepam-LK office in Jakarta on Monday, March 30.
He added that later MAPPI will decide their appraiser team which will be made of more than one company and be appointed by MAPPI. "It will be more independent," he said.
He also said that the people or companies which will be involved in the independent team will be chose by MAPPI. "So, don't ask me but ask MAPPI," he added.
Yet when being questioned on the three-proposed-names, he said that at that present moment he would only discuss on MAPPI. "So, there isn't any three [other] companies, but only one. We're talking about MAPPI," Erry said.
Previously, IDX had three candidates of independent appraiser for the acquisition of three companies (Pendopo Coal Ltd, PT Fajar Bumi Sakti, PT Darma Henwa Tbk) by Bumi Resources.
At that time, the stock exchange authority was making an internal review but had not called the independent appraiser candidates directly.
Previously, the director of listing of the IDX Eddy Sugito said that the stock exchange authority selected the independent appraiser candidates from the market. "The selection doesn't limit foreign or domestic appraisers," he said at the stock exchange building in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10.
Sugito added that IDX would accept every proposal from independent appraiser candidates as long as they posses the ability especially in coal mining sector.
He said that the stock exchange authority must select the right ability from the candidates because there isn't much record of the companies' profiles which will be acquired by Bumi. "No one knows the profile of the acquired companies. That's the hard part," he added.
