VIVAnews - The Department of Transportation may revoke the business permits of 40 airlines because they do not meet the set standards.
"It means that they're not ready to fly," Directorate General of Air Transportation Heri Bakti told VIVAnews on Tuesday, March 31.
In the beginning, the airlines had been warned that they would lose their Air Operator Certificate (AOC). However, because the opportunity was not taken seriously, the commercial business licenses (SIUP) of those airlines may be revoked.
"The licenses will be revoked. Some of the airlines have been in operation, some have not," said Bakti, former Administrator Head of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Prior to announcing a revocation threat, the Department of Transportation had already issued a warning in 2008.
"The chance has been given since last year. It has been prolonged several times, but it is denied," he said. Therefore, the Department of Transportation will give deadline until June 2009.
