British Tourist Number Lowers in 2009

VIVAnews - British tourists who came to Bali for the city's landscapes, culture, and art for the first two months in 2009 were recorded as many as 9,328 people, lower 2.49 percent than in 2007 of 9,566 people.

"44 [British] tourists came to Bali trough seaport using cruise ship and 9,284 people got trough Ngurah Rai airport," said the head of Bali National Statistic Agency (BPS) Ida Komang Wisnu in Denpasar on Monday, April 6.   

He said that the British tourists contributed 3.07 percent of foreign visitor total number in Bali for 304,224 people in January-February 2009 period.

It is expected that the visit number will bounce in the future, considering British artists involvement in Bali Arts Festival (PKB), an annual activity in the Gods' Island.

According to the Head of Art Sub-agency at Bali Agency of Culture, there has been an art group from the UK listed along with eleven art groups from eight countries in the 31st PKB which will be held on June 13 2009.

The foreign artists' participation is expected to boost international society to choose Bali as a safe and comfortable holiday location.

The British tourists is on the ninth position of ten countries that contribute the most visitors to Bali, lower than 2008 of seventh place.

The British people who came to Bali in 2008 were recorded for 82,827 people, higher 11,749 people or 16.53 percent that in 2007 for 71,078 people, Wisnu said. (TVOne)
