VIVAnews – A multi-wholesale shopping center located only 200 meters from Abepura police station, Jayapura, received another bomb threat this morning on Tuesday, April 14.
The bomb threat was sent trough a text message that stated “a bomb will go off in 2 hours and it'll be detonated in the wholesaler center.”
The mobile brigade's bomb deactivation officers (Jihandak Brimob) of Papua Police Department were informed of the text message and directly rushed to the scene to find the bomb.
The threat made numbers of people panicked and ran out from the shopping center. “We have investigated possible suspects, temporary suspicion is that it is related to the previous cases,” said the chief of Jayapura Police Department Adjutant Chief Commissioner of Police Robert Djoenso.
Meanwhile, Papua's People Assembly (MRP) stated that the Papua Police should not relate the separatist group, Free Papua Movement (OPM), to the incidents which had been occurred since April 8 and caused casualties.
“It's just a regular criminal action and has nothing to do with OPM. Don't make it as the scapegoat,” said Agus Alua, head of MRP, to VIVAnews on Tuesday, April 14.
He said that OPM would normally aim at police and military stations, not public facility like the present incident.
Therefore, he asked the police to immediately solve the case and if they will not search the suspect, they should be persuasive for avoiding human rights violations, just like what had happened in the past.
“Don't make Papua people traumatize with the militaristic Indonesia and stop making people anxious,” he stressed.
