Kalla Takes Responsibility For Party's Loss

VIVAnews - The Functional Group (Golkar) Party's votes in the recent legislative election dropped significantly. Golkar's chairperson Jusuf Kalla stated that he is responsible for the party's loss.

Kalla's statement was quoted by the chairperson of Golkar's executive board (DPP) Yorrys Raweyai when Kalla was attending a consultation meeting in Golkar's DPP office, West Jakarta on Thursday, April 16.

In the meeting which was also attended by the party's advisors, and a number of DPP and DPD I officials, Kalla admitted that he is responsible for the party's defeat. "But Kalla also asked the DPP to become more realistic facing the loss," Raweyai explained.

Raweyai again stated that Kalla asked the DPD I officials to return to their regions and make a consolidation with DPD II in preparing the national leadership meeting in April 23. "Kalla mentioned that this election is the most complex and expensive," he added.

Based on the quick count's result done by survey agencies, Golkar obtained around 14 percent, far below the Democratic Party which was able to seize around 20 percent. In last election, Golkar led with 21 percent vote.
