VIVAnews - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) insists on nominating the party's chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri for running the presidential candidacy in the 2009 Presidential Election.
"If PDI-P is consistent with the result of the board meeting [nominating Megawati]," said the party's secretary general Pramono Anung at the PDI-P's office for general elections campaign in Central Jakarta on Thursday, April 23.
The board is only going to discuss the appropriate vice presidential candidacy to assist Megawati in PDI-P national board meeting in April 25. "May 10 is the deadline for the registration," said Pramono.
When being queried about the person who will take the vice presidential candidacy, Anung answered that they have narrowed down the options.
Previously the PDIP Bali Regional Representatives Council (DPD) suggested that the party should not nominate any candidate before the problems of voters final list was resolved.
