RI-Vietnam Sign Business Contract on Coal

VIVAnews - Indonesia and Vietnam agreed on signing two business contracts involving private sectors during the Indonesia's trade delegation's visit led by Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu from April 23 until April 25.

The coal contract was signed by Committee Head of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, Juan Gondokusumo, while the cargo business contract was signed by Indonesian logistic entrepreneur Rudy Pesik. Both contracts cover business agreements on coal and cargo businesses.

"The trade mission to Vietnam is very strategic because Vietnam is a promising market for Indonesia," said Pangestu during a press conference received by VIVAnews in Jakarta on Thursday night, April 23.   

Meanwhile, Indonesia's balance of trade for the past five years recorded surplus. The nation earned a 2008 surplus of US$955.2 million, higher 164.6 percent than 2007 of US$361 million.
