VIVAnews- The decrease in interconnection rates toward retail telecommunication tariff apparently does not satisfy customers due to worsening network quality.
The said conclusion was stated by the Community Development and Information Agency (LPPMI). The analysis focused on the effects of the tariff decrease toward the quality of the customer service.
A year since the policy on rate decrease was issued on April 1, the number of customers and telecommunication traffic has sharply skyrocketed. The policy causes retail tariff to be cheaper.
General Secretary of the Indonesian Cellular Telecommunication Association (ATSI), Dian Siswarini, said that there are obstacles in the telecommunication network of the Association's members.
“The increasing number of customers after the interconnection tariff is cut is not followed by adequate infrastructure”, she said during an event entitled “A year Evaluation of the Policy” at Sahid Hotel, Sudirman, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 29 April.
The weak network infrastructure is mainly caused by the lack of frequency slots to accommodate the customers.
