PDIP Outnumbers Democratic Party

VIVAnews- The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is so far receiving the highest votes (19.64 percents) in the legislative elections, according to KPU's manual recapitulation. PDIP has outnumbered the Democratic Party which has been on the top based on the quick count results.

Democratic Party Deputy Head, Achmad Mubarok, said on Thursday, 30 April, that PDIP's temporary victory is predictable because the votes are coming from the provinces that have been the basis of Megawati Soekarnoputri's supporters. “For example, Central Java and Bali”, Mubarok told VIVAnews.

However, Mubarok said the temporary change of position in the leader board does not make the Democratic Party worry. The party, which nominates Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as a president, is still sure about becoming the number one.

Mubarok uttered the fact that the Democratic Party is still winning based on the result of the quick counts as well as the counting carried out by the Indonesian Police at every polling stations.

Based on the Police's data, the total amount of votes received is 150 millions Out of the amount: the Democratic Party gained minimum 21 percent of votes and PDIP only gained about 14 percents.

“The result from the Police's count is probably more accurate because it is impossible for the number to be inflated there”, he said.
