VIVAnews - As stated in the Chiang Mai Initiative, ASEAN countries plus its three partners agreed on the contribution of its members to collect fund in order to deal with the crisis, finance ministers from ASEAN and Japan, South Korea and China announced on Sunday, May 3, in Nusa Dua, Bali.
ASEAN +3 approved a total fund valuing US$120 billion. The fund will be granted to any country complying with foreign exchange shortage due to the crisis.
The agreement states that China and Japan are the largest contributors with US$38.4 billion each. South Korea follows with US$19.2 billion.
Meanwhile, four ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand will each contribute US$4.77 billion. The Philippines will prepare US$3.8 billion.
"Five other ASEAN countries will provide smaller contribution," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani. ASEAN's total contribution reaches US$24 billion.
