Indonesia to Study from S.Korea's Development
VIVAnews - The Indonesian government will study South Korea related to the accelerated implementation of the infrastructure project. The South Korean ways and policy will be adapted and if possible, be applied in Indonesia.
The Deputy Coordinating Minister for the Economy on Infrastructure and Area Development, Bambang Susantono, said Indonesia will study mostly on the project's aspects which is run by the government and private enterprise.
"The South Korean president will visit Indonesia today and we are going to exchange information on methods for Public Private Partnership (PPP) project," Susantono told VIVAnews on Thursday, March 5.
He said that the PPP models in South Korea have been well implemented since 10 years ago. In implementing the PPP, South Korea also enacts, amongst other, tax guarantee and tax exemption.
"We are about to start the method by preparing Infrastructure Fund and Guarantee Fund, so we must still learn much," he said. The government wants to eliminate the infrastructure gap which had made the infrastructure investment portion in Indonesia lower than Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the '97-'98 crisis.
In Australia, for example, the state government explicitly guarantees the credit given by state companies. In India, the Kartantaka state also explicitly guarantees the credit given out by Karnataka State Financial Corporation. The Korean government also guarantees the credit which is given to the state-owned companies (Korea Highway Authority dan Small Business Administration).
