3 Users Increase by 120 Percent

VIVAnews - Telecommunication company, Hutchison Charoen Pokphand Telecom (HCPT), claimed that they have increased the number of their customers up to 120 percent in less than two years.

On the fourth quarter of 2007, HCPT's product 3 (Three) users was still around 2 millions. But on the forth quarter, it highly increased to 4.5 millions.

"It is not only concerned with activated customers' cell numbers. They are the real number of customers," said Chief Commercial Officer of HCPT, Suresh Reddy .

HCPT is supported by 6,300 BTS (Base Transreceiver Station) towers for its network infrastructure. The towers are ready to serve 67 percent of the total 3 users in Indonesia's main cities, stated Reddy.

HCPT is planning to add the number of BTS up to 900 towers in Sumatra, Java, Bali-Lombok, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan.

"So far, we are still committed to aggressively spread [our] network in many Indonesian areas in order to become the fourth largest GSM operator in Indonesia," he said.

On the first of April, HCPT will launch their premier service in Kalimantan. "We are focusing on building network in areas having largest population, like Java and Sumatra. Kalimantan and Sulawesi are parts of our big plans," he added.
