VIVAnews - The government may fail purchase shares belonging to PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara because Newmont's mining in West Nusa Tenggara will expire in the next 10 years.
A VIVAnews source said the company does not actually object to release all of its shares in line with the liabilities contained in the working contract. Total shares that it must release between 2006 and 2010 reach 31 percent of shares.
Based on the international arbitration decision, Newmont was considered violating working contract regulations signed by both the company and the Indonesian government. Therefore, Newmont is obligated to sell 17 percent of its shares, which have been unsuccessfully sold in the last three years.
