VIVAnews - Head of Democratic Party Campaign Team Yahya Secawirya said that young voters are among its main targets to win the 2009 Elections.
"Indeed, young voters are our target. They must be embraced," Secawirya told VIVAnews on Wednesday, Jan 7.
Secawirya estimated nthat the number of voters in the next Elections will reach 150 million. One third of the amount, he said, are youngsters.
In fact, he said, the Democratic Party introduced itself as a party representing youngsters' hopes. Secawirya emphasized that legislative candidates joining the party also consist of youths.
The Democratic Party has formed a campaign team consisting of young members to gain votes from early voters as its strategy.
The party is targeting to gainat least 15 percent votes nationwide, expecting that it could repeat its success of winning the 2004 Elections.
In the previous 2004 Elections, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono became the first president directly chosen by the people.
