Indosat Ranked AA+

VIVAnews - Indonesian ratings agency, PT Pemeringkat Efek Indonesia (Pefindo), had announced rank AA+ for PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) and bonds II-2002, bonds III-2003 and bonds IV-2005.

The rank is also valid for bonds V-2007 and bonds VI-2008 with total value of Rp 5.33 trillion (US$445.03 million).

Pefindo also rank ijarah sharia bonds I-2005, II-2007 and III-2008 valuing Rp 1.25 trillion (US$104.3 million) with AA+.

"The rank reflects the high demand in cell business, strong company's market position as well as Indosat's liquidity," said Pefindo analyst, Niken Indriarsih on Friday, March 20.

Indriarsih went on to say that the ranking is restricted by tighter competition in telecommunication industry as well as the company's enthusiasm in business expansion. It may boost the leverage of the company's finance.

On 31 December 2008, Indosat shares were owned by Qatar Telecom (Qtel) by 40.81 percent. The ownership was carried out through Indonesia Communications Limited, Mauritius and Indonesia Communications Pte Ltd of Singapore. The remaining shares were controlled by the Indonesian government (14.29 percent) and the public (44.90 percent).

In March 2009, Qtel's ownership increased by 65 percent by purchasing public shares through a tender offer.
